Hot, Hot, Hot Soccer!

The temps reached a whopping 95 degrees on Saturday and we had 3 grandkid soccer games to attend. The first started at 12:30, and the last at 2:50pm.  I felt so bad for the girls.  They wilted fast in the heat, even with all the water and cool cloths that they had.  What troopers they are!  We took a couple of our big golf umbrellas for a little shade and thathelped a ton.  I borrowed some sunscreen...mine had fallen out in the truck somewhere and boy howdy, was I glad I did!  I saved having a bad burn like some.....hmm, hmm,  with the exception of the top of my feet.  Ugh...why do I always forget the feet!  haha.

Spring Athletics - Enchanting

Four of the grandkids, given the choice or softball, baseball or soccer decided to do soccer for the spring season.  So the next 8 weekends or so will be filled with soccer, soccer, soccer, soccer.  Bryant and I will be doing the back and forth thing at half times again too, since most of the game times are the same.  We got to watch 1/2 of Garrets game and 1/2 of Haley's game. Kaelyn was sick and had to go to the doctor so we watched all of Brynlee's game. (I'm a bad grandma and didn't get pictures this time. Plenty of photo opportunities to come) After the games, we took Kaelyn and Bryn home with us and watched "Enchanted" while Garret played his double header.  The movie Enchanted was totally delightful.  It's a great "princess" story with happily ever afters and great music.  I loved it.  The only question I have...Did it bother anyone else that they tried to make cockroaches look cute and be good house cleaners? Oh please....haha

Happy Birthday Garret! Happy Birthday Easton!

Happy Birthday to my grandsons Garret  (11) and Easton (4). These two have a lot to celebrate!  Not only their birthdays, but getting to share their birthday with a cousin.  How special is that?  What can I tell you about Garret?  He's 11 years old today. Our first born grandchild.  He is the love of my life.  He has taught me the joys of being a grandma and prepared me for the other kiddos to come.  He's smart, loves to read, loves video games and football.  He will probably pass me in height this year.  He is handsome, confident and has that little sparkle in his eye that melts your heart when he smiles.  Happy Birthday G-man, grandma loves you!  Let me tell you about my fifth grandchild Easton.  Easton is 4 years old today.  He is also the love of my life. He is the clown of the family, a sense of humor that is natural and a gift from God.  He has a smile that is infectious. When Easton laughs everyone laughs. He has a kind spirit and gentle hand.  He loves his brother and sister.  He loves everything rough and tumble.  Cars, trucks, trains and dinosaurs.  He is always happy to see me and I'm greeted with a hug. Happy Birthday "E", grandma loves you.  See you both at dinner!   

 

Hudson's 1st Birthday...oh my gosh!

I can't believe the time has flown by.  Our youngest grandchild, Hudson Kyle is one year old today.  Our little precious baby of the family is becoming a toddler before our eyes.  He took his first steps on January 1st. (What better way to start new adventures in the New Year!).  He is such a loving child, patient (the 3rd in line) and happy, happy, happy. He loves food...all food.  He is a grandpa's boy. He is a grandma's boy.  He is his brother and sisters joy. He is a wonder to behold. I can't wait to see who he becomes as his personality grows. Happy Birthday little Hud.  Grandma loves you with all her heart...oh what fun we are going to have this year!

Christmas Eve day...

Christmas Eve day was filled with more traditions.  The past few years Grandpa & Grandma take the grandkids out to lunch, a stroll in the mall and find some extra goodies for Santa's visit that night.  Bryant usually calls this trip with the grandkids..."herding kittens" haha.  We had a great time though, enjoying the festive atmosphere and slipping into Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to find just the right treat for Santa Claus.  You know Santa is a big guy so he likes lots of snacks.  We found cookies and chocolates for Santa, each household needing their own special treats and then each child got to pick out a special treat for themselves. We had a lot of fun. I love the special time with the kids.  It also gives parents a little extra time to clean for their evening celebrations or do some extra wrapping.   The rest of the day I ran some last minute errands and did our own marathon wrapping of presents.  Lots of fun, for sure.

My Little Ghosts and Gobblins...not so little..haha

The kids had a ton of fun last night Trick or Treating the neighborhood.  That was after they all attended their church carnival and did the "trunk or treat".  We also celebrated Bryant's birthday, cake and all!Some of these are my pictures and some I "borrowed" some Bree. They had a very busy day. The pumpkins are the Hughes families, very creative.  Then there is Garret the skeleton, Kaelyn the fairy, Bryn as Hannah Montana, Haley the Green Dragon, Easton the Knight and our pumpkin boy Hudson!
