Bryant and I like to search out and see new geological anomalies on our travels. Last year on our vacation Virginia had told us about a couple places The Hole-in-the-ground and The Crack in the Ground in Lake County. We had so much fun finding them, checking them out and experiencing the specialty of one of a kind places to visit. If I had started my blog last year, I'm sure you would have heard all about those two places, plus The Cowboy Dinner Tree Restaurant, the best dinner I have had in my life! (Take an ice chest with you for the extra food you'll be taking home) So when we were advised to see and camp at Timothy Lake, Virginia told us about a new place to see called Little Crater Lake. It was a short hike through a meadow from a campground off the main loop and every bit worth the steps to get there. It does remind you of the majestic blue crater lake on a much smaller scale of course, but beautiful in its on right. The water was amazingly crisp (the water is 34 degrees) and clear, all the way to the bottom. The pictures I took, do not do it justice, but yes, it really is that BLUE! You will just have to go and see for yourself.
Don't forget your camera!
